White Fillings Elsternwick

A white filling is a tooth-coloured filling. Over the years, white filling materials have markedly improved in quality and they are now the option to the traditional silver fillings. White fillings can withstand forces in your mouth when you bite and chew over a long period of time whilst giving you a natural, tooth-coloured appearance. White filling materials can be made from composite that is bonded to the tooth or from ceramic materials that is custom made to fit your tooth. Ceramics are the strongest dental filling materials using the latest CAD/CAM technology to achieve a custom fit that is both aesthetic and functional.

You can improve the cosmetic look of your smile by having your silver fillings replaced with tooth-coloured filling materials. These tooth coloured restorations allow you to smile confidently without a metallic glint in sight, giving your teeth a more natural appearance overall. This can be done safely. Not all silver coloured fillings need to be replaced. If your silver filling is extremely large, such that the tooth has been weakened, Dr Geeta Perks, dentist in Elsternwick, may recommend that you have a ceramic inlay/onlay restoration as an alternative stronger material that will protect your tooth.
